Show Only Status Updates in Facebook News Feed : Filter recent post

If you think your recent items in your facebook news feed is cluttered with unwanted links, game and applications your friends used (which you hardly care about), then you can now choose to filter items to be shown in your recent items in your facebook news feed.

View Only Status Updates: Filter News Feed Items by Type

You can choose to show only status updates to check on your friends easily… or filter by friends groups you created. You can choose links or videos to quicky catch up on the news and viral videos faster.

Click on Most Recent in your news feed and click on the ▼ arrow that appear. From the options choose any option you want to filter according to.

Status Updates : Show only status updates from friends  (avoids all links, video, spam etc)

Photos : Shows only photos and Albums shared by friends.

Links : Shows external links and websites pages, blog posts liked or shared by friends.

Videos : Videos shared, liked by friends.

Pages : Shows updates from the facebook pages you Like.

You can choose Groups (created earlier having specific people) like work, relatives etc. and filter to show results only from them. Very useful feature to stay in touch more often with people who might be really important to you.

Edit Options : You can specifically block people any person, page from your newsfeed. This way you can mute updates from someone you don’t like or want to avoid.

These filtering options really help you a lot to save a good amount of time to filter unwanted clutter in your facebook feed which previously had to see even if you wanted to block it manually.

Facebook’s security feature takes into account how many mutual friends you and the person potentially receiving the request have.If you have few or no friends in common, have had previous requests marked, or a combination of the two, your request may not be sent.

So, a mutual 2 sided POKE creates a connection between 2 unrelated facebook profiles when there is no social connection like mutual friends, common interests etc.

So keep Poking … but note that in some cultures it is considered bad social etiquette.

Step 1 : Go to the Facebook Page etc and click "Suggest to Friends".

Step 2 : When the friend select window opens, run the following code in the Address Bar. (Clear out > Paste code > Press enter)

Useful Default Keyboard shortcut s to Quickly Navigate facebook

Facebook has its own keyboard shortcuts with which you can easily access the main sections of your facebook account like profile, home, recent messages etc. This works by default and you can use them from your windows desktop keyboard.

The operation varies depending on the browser you use. For example, in Firefox you should also press Shift while in IE you have to press Enter after using these shortcuts:

    * ALT + 0 – Loads the Help Center
