Show unread E-Mail count for Gmail in Favicon Browser Tab

An useful way to keep up on new unread emails that arrive in your inbox is, if you see the no. of unread emails on your browser tab. Now you can customize the favicon in the tab itself to show you how many unread emails are in your gmail inbox.
It is a Greasemonkey script which shows the number of unread Gmail messages in the Favicon in your Firefox tab.

It allows you to easily see how many unread messages you have without needing to switch back to Gmail. As the number of unread messages changes, the favicon in your Firefox tab or URL bar will change to show the number of unread messages you have in your inbox.

Install Gmail Unread Message Count in Favicon :  Install

Features:

* Shows the number of unread messages in your Gmail inbox in your browser tab.

 * Color of the unread message number in the icon glows brighter as number increases. "0" is    green, "1" to "99+" get progressively brighter.

 * Envelope icon flashes orange when you have a new chat message.

* Different Gmail icon colors for different Gmail accounts. Shows a red envelope icon by default, blue envelope icon for hosted (Google Apps for my Domain) email accounts. You can easily override these defaults, with 3 different envelope icon colors supported (red, green, and blue). Instructions on lines 14-18 of script.

Step 2 : In the "Labs" there are numerous gmail lab features you can use. Look for Title Tweaks. Toggle "Enable" and scroll down, click "Save Changes".

Title Tweaks, changes order of elements in the browser title bar from "Gmail – Inbox (20) – username@gmail.com" to "Inbox (20) – username@gmail.com – Gmail". This way you are able (most of the time) to see if a new mail has arrived even if Gmail window is minimized from the look at your browser tab.

This is a little productive tip to help to keep a check on your unread email. Alternatively if you can use a gmail notifier for windows (Gmail Peeper) to get instant tray notifications when you get a new gmail.
